چکیده
This study examined the relationships between physical fitness attributes and match demands in lead rugby union referees. Eleven referees underwent anthropometric assessments (40-m sprint, Yo-Yo Intermittent Recovery Test, 1.2-km shuttle run) prior to 2019 Rugby World Cup. Match activities were assessed via global positioning system devices (total distance, high-speed running distance [>5 m·s−1], average speed, peak intensities over 1-min, 5-min, 10-min epochs) heart rate variables measured using chest-worn monitors (HRmean, summated-heart-rate-zones, time above 90% HRmax). Forty-metre sprint was significantly related maximum speed (P = 0.004; r −0.79) 0.037, −0.63) during matches. Likewise, ∑7 skinfold thickness correlated with 0.01, −0.72). Shuttle Run age, body mass index exhibited non-significant correlations > 0.05, −0.58 0.53) demand variables. Results suggest it may be pertinent for optimise capacity fat composition execute greater volumes reach higher speeds Test run tests are not specific activity thus relevant monitoring of

Officiating Role Influences the Physical Match Activity Profiles of Rugby League Touch Judges and Referees
This study investigated the effect of the officiating role on physical activity profiles of rugby league match officials during match-play. Physical performance indicators were collated from 23 match officials, resulting in 78 observations. Match officials were categorised into two groups: referees and touch judges. Microtechnology facilitated the quantification of total distance (m), relative ...
متن کاملRunning demands and heart rate response in rugby union referees.
The aim of this study was to examine the match physical demands and exercise intensity associated with men rugby union refereeing using global positioning system technology. Ten male rugby union referees (age, 37.1 ± 5.9 years; body mass, 83.7 ± 4.8 kg; height, 175.5 ± 6.2 cm) were analyzed 2-4 times during a total of 30 national level matches. The average total distance covered by the referees...
متن کاملThe physical demands of elite English rugby union.
The aim of this study was to assess the physical demands of elite English rugby union match-play. Player movements were captured by five distributed video cameras and then reconstructed on a two-dimensional plane representing the pitch. Movements based on speeds were categorized as standing, walking, jogging, and medium-intensity running (low-intensity activity), and high-intensity running, spr...

BACKGROUND In England, rugby union is a popular sport and is widely played within schools. Despite the large participation numbers, the movement and physical demands of the sport and how they progress by age have not been explored. METHOD Ninety-six male rugby union players wore microtechnology devices during six rugby union matches within the education pathway to investigate the movement and...
